Top 10 Hottest Golf Clubs Mar 2009
Here are the Top 10 Hottest Golf Clubs for the month of Mar 2009. These were the hottest golf clubs in demand during the month of March. Do you know which one is the hottest?
1. Ping Eye 2 Iron set
2. Callaway Golf X-20 Iron Set
3. TaylorMade r7 Iron set
4. Callaway Golf X-18 Iron Set
5. Ping G5 Iron set
6. TaylorMade RAC OS Iron set
7. Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Wedge
8. TaylorMade Burner 460 Driver
9. Ping G10 Driver
10. Mizuno T-Zoid Pro Forged Iron set
Well the Ping Eye 2 iron set is still the #1 sought after golf club 2 years and running! The Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Wedge has dropped from #2 to #7. I have two of the Vokey's in my bag and they're great wedges.
The golf club that moved up the most was the Callaway Golf X-18 Iron Set. Other than that all of the other golf clubs didn't move that much. There's a new golf club that's made it into the top 10 and that's the Mizuno T-Zoid Pro Forged Iron set. Again, both Taylormade and Ping have 3 of the top 10 golf products this month while Callaway has 2 of the top 10.
Just in case you missed it, here's my post of The Hottest Golf Clubs Jan 2009, which is how the top 10 clubs finished for the month of January 2009.

Taylormade Tour Preferred Irons
I just ordered a set of custom Taylormade Tour Preferred Irons from Golfsmith. It was between the Tour Preferred and the Callaway X Forged. I liked both sets, but the Tour Preferred were much more forgiving on miss hits. I purposely tried to hit a few shots towards the the toe and heel and the shots with the Tour Preferred were more tightly dispersed and they only had a minor reduction in distance compared to the X Forged.
Can't wait to play a few rounds with them. I'll post back after my first round to give my feedback.

What's In Sean O'Hair's Golf Bag - 2008 PODS
Sean O'Hair won his 2nd career PGA tour event last weekend by winning the 2008 PODS Championship at Copperhead Golf Course in Tampa Bay, Florida. Do you want to know what Sean was carrying in his golf bag during the win?
Driver: TaylorMade Burner 9.5°
3 Wood: TaylorMade V Steel 15°
5 Wood: TaylorMade r7 17.5°
Irons: (3-9) TaylorMade r7
GW Wedge: TaylorMade rac 48°
SW Wedge: TaylorMade rac 54°
LW Wedge: TaylorMade rac 58°
Putter: TaylorMade Rossa Monza Spider
Ball: TaylorMade TP Red
Sean shot a final round of 2-under 69 winning by 2-strokes. O'Hair had a little help thanks to Stewart Sink's meltdown on the final 4 holes. Stewart played the final 4 holes in 4 over pair and basically handed the tournament to O'Hair on a silver platter. O'Hair finished his round strong with a birdie and two good pars. Sink finished in a 6-way tie for 2nd place. Sean took home $954,000 for the win and a great start for the 2008 season. The win also gave him 2,500 points towards the FedEx Cup.

How Good Is The Ping Rapture Driver?
I've been in the market for a new driver lately looking to replace my r7 425 Quad TP with a XS Fujikura Speeder. I recently hit the Nike SasQuatch Sumo, Nike SasQuatch Sumo Square, TaylorMade r7 Superquad, TaylorMade Burner, Callaway Big Birtha 454, and Callway Fusion FT-5 at a golf demo day. The one that hit it the straightest was the one that I didn't like... the Nike SasQuatch Sumo Square.
The Ping booth was too long so I didn't get a chance to try the Ping Rapture. I've been doing some research and every review I've read (15) has been excellent. All of the reviewers can't believe how straight and long the driver is compared to their other drivers like the r7, G5, Callaway, etc... I went to Ping's website and read the specs on the club and I'm very impressed.
I've used TaylorMade drivers since the first Burner came out, but the Ping Rapture has really got me curious. Both Bubba Smith and Angel Cabrera on the PGA Tour play the Ping Rapture... and these guys hit it a ton. Who can forgot Angel's 397-yard drive in this year's US Open at Oakmont.
So how good is the Ping Rapture Driver?
If you play the new Ping Rapture then I'd really like to get your opinion. If you know of someone who plays it let me know how they like it.

What's In Paula Creamer's Golf Bag?
Paula Creamer won the 2007 LPGA season opener this last weekend at the SBS OPen at Turtle Bay in Oahu, Hawaii. Do you want to know what she was carrying in her golf bag during his win?
Driver: TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad 10.5°
3 Wood: TaylorMade r7 15°
Hybrid: TaylorMade Rescue Mid 19°
Hybrid: TaylorMade Rescue Mid 22°
Irons: (4-PW) TaylorMade r7 TP
SW: Titleist Vokey Design 54°
LW: Titleist Vokey Design 58°
Putter: Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball XG
Ball: Precept TOUR SIII
It was Paula's 3rd win on the LPGA since winning twice in her rookie year with wins at the Sybase Classic and Evian Masters. She also had won two tournaments in Japan during her rookie season.
It was a tight finish on Sunday with the likes of Lorena Ochao, Carrie Webb, and Julieta Granada all within a stroke or two of Creamer. Granada holed a 15-foot birder on the 18th to tie Creamer at 8 under. But Creamer still had 17 and 18 to play. She drained a 40-footer for birdie on 17 to go to 9 under. She pared 18 and the title was hers. She took home $165,000 for the win.

Golf Tip: Golfing Barefoot
Here's a golf tip that I discovered quite by accident.
I was at Golfsmith to get a few golf gloves and golf balls and decided to head over to the 2 hitting booths they had. I noticed they had a couple TaylorMade TP R7 Quad's in the pre-owned golf club area. I found one with a Speeder 757 X-Stiff shaft and I wanted to give it a few swings, but I had my flip-flops on.
I really wanted to hit this club and decided that I was going to swing the club in my bare feet. I stepped up to the golf mat and put a few golf balls down. I then took my flip-flops off and made a few practice swings to warm up. These golf hitting booths were hooked up to a launch monitor so I was going to see how well I could hit the R7 Quad in my bare feet.
I knew that if I was going to have any success hitting the golf ball in my bare feet with the R7 that I'd have to keep my balance throughout the swing and to swing within myself. I was able to do this and hit some monster drives in the 300 yard carry range. See my previous post Taylormade TP R7 Quad vs Taylormade R7 to read how well I hit the remaining golf balls.
I was hitting the ball so pure that I realized that hitting in my bare feet was an excellent way to help me stay balanced throughout my swing.
I now on occasion will hit in my bare feet at the range and I get some strange looks at first, but once I start hitting the golf balls pure one after another I think they wonder if they should be doing the same.
Have you ever tried this golf tip?
