Is This Your Favorite Golf Club To Chip With?

In a recent poll of asking golfers what club they like to use when chipping the obvious came out on top. Any of the wedges (PW, AW, SW, LW) topped the poll, but there was a surprising second place winner... at least it was a surprise to me.

52% - Wedge
43% - 7, 8 or 9 iron
 3% - 3, 4, 5 or 6 iron
 1% - Chipper club
 1% - Fairway wood.

I figured any of the wedges would have topped the list, but I was thinking it would've been a much higher percentage. It just goes to show you that it's not what club you use, but what you're most confident with to pull off the shot.

Does this golf poll accurately represent the golf club you use when chipping? Send me your comments.

As an employee in a Pro Shop I have a similar discussion with customers all the time, it is very suprising to see how many people have more trust in a fairway wood for a wedge than the actual wedge in their bag. My personal favorite is my 56 or 60 degree Vokey wedge.

I was definitely surprised by how many golfers preferred something other than a wedge to chip with. I've been golfing for 30 years so I guess I shouldn't be surprised ;-)
